1. When and how will I be paid?
You will be paid in three installments. The first check will be distributed
at the end of the 3rd week of the program, the second at the end of the
6th week, and the final check will be distributed after all program requirements
are fulfilled.
2. Is my housing covered by the REU program?
Housing will be provided for students who are NOT attending Oregon State
University. You will be housed in newly constructed dormitories less than
½ mile from the WRL. Housing stipends will not be provided to students
attending OSU.
3. Will I have a roommate?
Yes, you will be rooming with another REU student.
4. Will the REU program pay for my meals?
A meal card, valid at OSU dining facilities, will be provided to REU
students NOT attending Oregon State University. This meal card will be
valid for the duration of the program. Meal stipends will not be provided
to students attending OSU.
5. Will I have internet/computer access?
PC workstations, connected to the internet, will be available for use
at the WRL. Students not attending OSU will also have internet access
in the dormitory room, but must bring their own computer.
6. How will I book my travel? Will it be paid for?
The WRL will reimburse travel expenses up to $500 for students NOT attending
Oregon State University. Airfare must be arranged with Monique Cohen at
AwayTravel (mcohen@azumano). The costs will be billed to the WRL directly
and you will not need to pay for the ticket up front.
For students who drive from out of state, your mileage will be reimbursed
at standard university rates up to $500.
7. How will I get around campus?
Most OSU students walk or bike to class, work, etc. If you bring a car,
you will need to purchase a valid parking pass from the university. The
WRL will not cover the cost of parking.
8. Will I have access to other OSU facilities?
You may purchase a summer pass to the recreation facilities at the Dixon
Recreation Center. The WRL will not cover any extracurricular expenses.
9. How much will I be expected to work?
You will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week for the 9
week program.
