The O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory
together with the Coastal and Ocean Engineering Program in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State
University is committed to providing outstanding education to improve
the sustainability of coastal areas. Our educational efforts focus on:
Our graduate degree program offers MS, ME, and Ph.D. degrees with required
courses to insure that graduates are well-founded in coastal engineering
and nearshore science fundamentals that may be applied to the specialty
area of their choice.
The Coastal and Ocean Engineering Program offers students the opportunity
to work with a number of faculty on a range of research topics including
nearshore hydrodynamics, sediment transport, coastal structures, and
hazard mitigation.
The ties between the Program and the Wave Research Laboratory ensure
that students will have access to state-of-the art facilities for research
in coastal and ocean processes.
Because complex coastal problems require multidisciplinary
solutions, the Coastal and Ocean Engineering
Program has ties to programs in Oceanography, Marine Geology, and
Computer Science.
Our Education efforts also include the integration of research and education
at the undergraduate level through our REU program.
We also integrate our research and education with programs focusing on
K-12 Outreach in science and technology.
