WRL Open House: The O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory will be open to the public from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Friday, November 11th and from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm Saturday, Novemberl 12th for OSU's Dad's Weekend. On November 15th, the National Science Foundation will host the grand opening of the George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES). The grand opening will include live, remote demonstrations from four of the network's research sites, including a the Tsunami Wave Basin here at Oregon State University (OSU Demo scheduled for 11:30 am PST). Research Experiences for Undergraduates Site (REU-Site) from June 21 to August 20, 2004. Applications due March 15. Research projects at the REU-Site will be drawn from the intersection of coastal engineering, physical oceanography, and computer science, focusing on coastal processes and the mitigation of natural hazards, particularly those caused by tsunamis and coastal storms. Saturday Academy, February 28, 2004. The WRL is proud to host this program offering middle school students the chance to learn how waves behave in the ocean using the largest tsunami basin in the world.
