We are pleased that you have accepted our invitation to participate in the “Workshop to Develop a Strategic Plan for Tsunami Research in the US” on July 25 and 26 in Corvallis, Oregon.
Registration, Hotel Accommodation, and Travel
The workshop will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday July 25 and will end with a summary and recommendations at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 26. There is no cost to register for this workshop. Continental breakfast, coffee breaks, and lunch will be provided.
The most convenient hotel in Corvallis for the workshop is the Hilton
Garden Inn, 2500 SW Western Blvd. Corvallis. Please contact the hotel
directly for reservations (541) 752-5000 and ask for Oregon State University
discount rate.
For those supported by NSF, because of the restrictions with NSF/government airfare, we ask that you book airline tickets through Monique Cohen at Azumano Travel (mcohen@azumano.com) (541-757-9792). The expenses will be billed to the workshop directly. Please contact me if this is presents a problem.
Portland (PDX) is the largest major airport, approximately 95 miles from Corvallis. Commercial shuttle service is available between PDX and OSU (e.g., www.hutshuttle.com).
Venue and Participation
The workshop will be held in the Kelly Engineering Center located on the central campus. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from Hilton Garden Inn to the KEC. For those who drive, please park at the free parking open lot south of the Football Stadium (northwest of Hilton Garden Inn).
All participants will be given a writing assignment prior to the workshop. You contribution to the writing will be key to the success of the workshop.

To OSU/Hilton from Portland Airport (95 mi, approx 120 minutes by car): Take I-205 to I-5 South. Take Exit 228 heading west to Corvallis. Take Hwy 34 Bypass (follow signs to "Oregon Coast") and turn right on 26th street. Hilton is on the corner of 26th and Western.
